Upcoming Walleye Opener
With the walleye opener for MN just around the corner, many big changes have been happening at Flag Island Resort. As of January the resort is now under the ownership and management of Chuck and Andrea Haggenmiller. The resort is now a family owned and operated resort. Flag Island Resort is proud to announce the return of guide Dan Schmidt and cook Ki Ok back to the Flag Island team.
Walleye opener is set for this coming Saturday, May 14th and for Ontario the following Saturday, May 21st. We are anticipating a great opener for both Minnesota and Canadian waters. The water temps have been around the 40's and the water level is at a pretty normal level, no worries for issues that go along with high or low waters. The fish have just been stacked on the graphs!
The Northern Pike are hungry as well! The Pike season is open year round up here on Lake of the Woods. Spring is a great time to be trolling or casting into the shallows to catch that big monster you have been waiting for. As for colors, blue and white spoons have shown great success but, you really cannot go wrong with anything with a little white.

2/18/2013 Lake of the Woods Ice Fishing Report
Come join us for a great time on the hard water. Fish are in their typical mid winter pattern and are being caught on a variety of lures. With the warmer weather came some big bites. One thing we really enjoy at Flag Island is seeing that familiar face. Thank you all for making that return trip to visit with us. Without you we could not share these moments!
NRC Roseau visited Flag Island Resort for a great meal and an awesome Snowcat ride.
Wild life pursuit TV visited Flag Island for an ice fishing adventure. Crappies and walleye were everything but camera shy! Lots of fish between 20 and 26-inches.
Jeff and his wife did a number on the Crappies this week!
Getting warm out and the fish are heating up too. Check out our Lake of the Woods resort on Flag Island!

Bonus Lake of the Woods Lake Trout
Hello Lake of the Woods Fishing Report followers! We wanted to share a few photos with you - one being a bonus Lake Trout! Lake Trout are quite rare in the Northwest Angle. They begin to roam when the waters cool and are a pleasant surprise to all when targeting other species such as Crappie and Walleye. The ice has been nice and so have the fish! Good luck out there!

Proven Producers for Lake of the Woods Muskies
The
perfect hunter lurks in the murky waters of Lake of the Woods. How
quick can they swim? How hard do they fight? Bone chilling strikes,
rabid head shakes, and sky rocketing aerobatics. Submission is out of
the question for some. Others slide into the net like they've been
there and fought the fight once before. Once you locate these fish,
putting them in the boat can certainly become quite the challenge.
Prepare yourself with a heavy arsenal to tackle the King of
freshwater.
Brian Malack did his homework this year and consistently boated big
Lake of the Woods Muskies in June, July, August, and September.
